About This Piece
Pre-owned Patek Philippe Grand Complications Perpetual Calendar ref. 5140R-011 in 18K rose gold. Acquired as New Old Stock in 2019, lightly worn thereafter — presented in very good condition. No polishing. Case edges crisp. Dial and crystal excellent throughout.
Supplied with an exceptionally complete set: original Patek Philippe large winder box, original papers and certificate, original rose gold setting pusher, exhibition sapphire caseback fitted, solid caseback also included, and original swing tag with serial number.
One of the most refined and elegant perpetual calendar wristwatches ever produced. The 5140R-011 pairs an 18K rose gold case measuring just 37.2mm in diameter and 8.5mm in thickness with a warm opaline silver dial set with raised rose gold applied baton hour markers and centre sweep seconds hand. The perpetual calendar display presents the day, date, month, moonphase, leap year, and 24-hour indicator through elegantly integrated apertures and subdials — all driven by Patek Philippe Calibre 240 Q, an ultra-thin automatic movement featuring a 22K gold micro-rotor, Gyromax balance wheel adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and five positions, and a free-sprung self-compensating flat balance spring. Power reserve approximately 48 hours. Water resistant to 30 metres. The exhibition sapphire caseback reveals the beautifully decorated calibre in full — the fausses-côtes pattern, hand-bevelled bridges, and gold micro-rotor making for one of the most satisfying casebacks in Patek's entire catalogue. Worn on a brown alligator leather strap with 18K rose gold deployant clasp. The direct successor to the legendary ref. 3940 — and widely regarded as one of the finest thin perpetual calendar wristwatches ever made.
